It just depends on the dog, but there was a post recently about another female killing a litter so it's probably better if only the Mom has access to the pups for now. My male acts terrified of the puppies and won't go anywhere near them so I don't do anything special in my case. I also have a younger female that was very interested in the pups. When they were about 4 weeks old the Mom started to relax and let her kiss them. They are now almost 8 weeks and the younger female is the best babysitter ever, especially since Mom growls at them since she is trying to wean them and they are eating on their own. |
