Default We are getting another Yorkie!!

I am not exactly sure when, but I know my husband and I have been talking about getting another one for awhile now. We think we may be getting one in 8 weeks...in fact, I know I can get one in 8 weeks...and I was offered pick of the litter. The pups are two days old, but it is from the same breeder we got Autumn from. On the upside, he takes his dogs to the same vet I do. On the down side, only the dad is AKC registered, mom isn't registered. He says I could get the pup CKC registered, but I am not even sure what CKC is?

Now at the same time I was being offered pick of the litter from him, my mom's friend was telling my mom that her sis in law has an AKC female expecting a litter. I do not know anything about this breeder yet except that she lives in Holmes County to which I immediately told my mom, "Make sure it isn't a puppy mill" because Holmes County has severl mills. My mom said, "well if it is a mill, look at it as a rescue." I said, no mom I can't with a clear conscience buy from a miller. So mom asked and the lady is not a miller. She has two breeding pairs of yorkies and that is it. She hasn't given us a price yet. My mom said I should go out there and meet her and see the conditions of her home and dogs before the pups are born to see if I would be comfortable getting a pup from her. So now I am just waiting to see when it convenient for her. I am nervous too!

I would like to have opinions from all of you. What kinds of things should I take into consideration and what questions should I ask? I mean, with Autumn I was new to the whole yorkie experience and her breeder is the only one I have purchased from. That was three years ago. I was quite a bit niave about things too. He let her go at six weeks, but when I talked to him today he said he no longer allows the pups to go to their new homes until they are atleast eight weeks old. AND he doesn't even advertise them until they are 8 weeks...so it looks to me like he has made some improvements on his standards for the health of his dogs. I know that I can call my vet and ask him about the guy since we have the same vet and he will tell me honestly about the mom, dad, and pups. OH and I did see BOTH parents today and they are beautiful.

I guess mainly I am wanting to know how important are the papers? and what is the difference between AKC and CKC?
