I guess you'd like her to walk in between the two of you, when you're out with you sister? Obviously she must feel very uncomfortable that way. Is it that important to you? Sometimes you have to pick your battles. I don't know how to keep her from pulling as when Debbie and I start out for certain places, she's very excited and I feel I'm being pulled by a three pound sled dog. After a while, she calms down and walks beside me or a little behind. According to Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer, walking in front is dominant behaviour that you don't want but I like Debbie to walk a little ahead so I can keep an eye on her.

As far as praising her and rubbing her belly when she does this, is it something to wish to encourage? My dog never rolls over. Personally when I'm on the way out the door for a walk, I want to get out the door. You can always rub her belly at other times.
