Vaccinate Rarely I am in Ontario, and I vaccinate only every three years. I lost a Beagle in 2002 to a rabies shot-she was 13, and had them yearly, and years ago, had to stop giving shots to another Beagle, when he reached seven. I vaccinate pups completely, then give their boosters at one year. After that, I move to three year intervals, as I believe we vaccinate too often and too much.
Kia was last done in 2004, and will be receiving rabies in 2007; I have not yet decided about the other shots. I don't give Leptospirosis at all, as from walking through the bush and fields, the dogs have already been exposed and developed their own immunity, and I have a low opinion of some other shots, ie Bordatella.
I still give my horses yearly rabies shots, as there is no proof of how long they last in equines. They also get annual tetnus shots, of course. Most others? I only give some shots to horses that travel, and since mine do not, anymore, they get only the two I mentioned. |
