I know he just went to the groomer and got a bath, but I would bathe him again and use creme conditioner (even if it is yours). Before you rinse it out, comb it thru really good and that should help loosen up any tangles he has. I used to have trouble with Lily, but conditioner has become my new friend. I use Pantene Smooth and Sleek on her. With doggy shampoo, of course! You might want to snip out the mats and just start from scratch. It has to hurt when you are trying to comb them out
