...Sometimes after bathing, it's possible for some water to have gotten down in the ears. Perhaps this is the cause. Gently drying the inside of the ear with cotton to remove some moisture would help. The last time comet had smelly ears, an ear infection followed a week after.

Keeping the insides of the ears dry, and preventing any moisture would help. This is particularly true for yorkies with floppy ears like my Comet.
