That's one of the beauties of my camera. You can shoot pictures as
fast as you can click the shutter. It eventually needs to process, but
you can take 4 or so.
For action shots on smaller cameras, try prefocusing on a spot by
holding the shutter halfway down. Then follow the subject until it
reaches the spot you're focused on and click the rest of the way. You
can usually get one shot the way you want. Most cameras have "burst"
modes too, where you can click and hold the shutter for a burst of 3
or 4 shots.
Bummer about your sled. That's why I never got into it. I can't
tighten a bolt, let alone fix a machine!
