Yes, it does make a difference. Barbituates put them under very deeply. Some give too much to these tiny dogs and they never, ever wake up again. With stuff like isoflurane, they are waking up usually as they are finishing the surgery. You want them to come right out of it. The longer they are under, the more danger it is that they might not come out of it.
