I have been reading the housebreaking issues and find I'm having an impossible time with my new Yorkie. He is 5 months and weighs in at 2lb. 6oz. The breeder told me he was litter trained , otherwise I would not have bought such an old puppy. He was also much smaller than I had hoped for. He has been home for 6 days and the first two days he used his litter. Since then, he will go in the box and do nothing and is urinating and deficating all over my kitchen. I am spending every minute of my day with him, and he will hold his urine for hours(up to 12!)I have housebroken numerous dogs and have never had this problem. I am exhausted from watching which is why I probably don't see him. Today I turned around for a minute to wash my hands and he went. He is not on any schedule and will mess in his crate at night. I take him to the pan after sleep, meals and play, but no luck I am at my wits end. He is also still barking at night and it is affecting my children- they are exhausted in school. Vet said to buy a large crate and put his pan, bed inside at night and I will try this tonite. Any suggestions?
