If your friend can afford a trip to Hawaii - then she can afford to pay you NOW. You didn't agree to any prearranged plan - and whatever HER pay schedule is - it's her problem -
I would go to her house and talk this out face to face - that is so not fair to make you cover your gas when you were saving HER butt....especially since she was the one on the exotic trip - if someone had been in the hospital or she was ill - that would be different
