| I love it I can see it all happening. My Yorkie spent an hour and a half in a culvert with a muskrat last April. When she finally deeked out, I was able to grab her just as she was heading in again. She had a fair bit of blood on her, but I did not see the muskrat again-I suspect it managed to escape although the other end of the culvert was covered. The photo below is immediately after the event.
Last night, I found her in the woodshed with a large vole-she took off like a bat out of hell before I could get it. I carried it into the house so she would follow, gave her a treat and managed to drop the vole outside, just in front of the mama cat that I rescued. Mama enjoyed it-even growled at her kittens when they investigated-and Kia was happy with a bit of chicken. She has often been given rodents by one of my cats-I manage to get them away from her pretty fast!
The funniest thing I ever saw was Kia in a tack box with four little mice. She was so excited, she didn't know what to do, and they kept hiding under her hair, she kept turning around and lifting her feet, but she couldn't see them. Finally, OrangeKat jumped in and out of the box without stopping, but took a mouse with her-she got them all.
Last year Kia and Gunner-my GSP-tried to kill a vole that Kia actually caught all by herself. It took them an hour-I suspect Gunner, all 105 pounds of him, finally stepped on it!
I needed a good laugh. |
