What is with the barking at everything anyway? There are times I like Loki to bark, like if a stranger is at the door. There are also times it's OK to bark, like when the timer goes off on the stove. But he will also bark at goofy things too (like you said, the tape measure, silly stuff) and he will just go CRAZY and is hard to calm down. We are working on it so I feel your pain on that one!!!

Maybe your girl will respond to a really yummy treat? And maybe don't ask her to sit right away but just to look at you? I think the trainer said to work on something that's easy for the dog so they don't feel like they "failed" and don't get too frustrated. And work with her in very, very short sessions. We also got in trouble for repeating commands so try saying the command and then waiting about 30 seconds before saying it again. Have you tried luring with food? That works well too and then translates into a hand signal. There are many commands that Loki won't respond to the verbal if he's very distracted but he'll do with the hand signal 99% of the time.

We took 4 or 5 training classes so if you get stuck let me know - we might have learned something in class that will help.
