I have a male and a female - The ONLY trait that I prefer one over the other is Ruthie squats to pee 100% of the time, whereas Oscar squats about 80% and lifts his leg the rest of the time. I have them pee pad trained so when Oscar lifts his leg on the pad, it often doesn't end up on the pad. He does NOT mark around the house though and never has. As far as personality goes, it really depends on the dog - some say that males are more affectionate and females are more independant and aloof, but I find that both of mine are affectionate, and if anything, Ruthie is more so. It really all comes down to the personality of the puppy, so like someone else suggested, I would go by that when deciding if you really don't have a preference between girl/boy.

Good luck! Whatever you decide will be the right choice and you won't regret it - boy or girl, you can't go wrong with a Yorkie!
