I'm glad you're going to your own vet. I had my cats done at the Humane Society but I think it might be more like an assembly line there. Some vets don't realize that these tiny dogs require different treatment. A larger dog can handle their vaccinations all at once but a little dog can't. I know it costs more but better safe than sorry.

I never thought about all this before I got Debbie. I was lucky to find a vet that does though. She has me bring her in for all shots two weeks apart. After the first time, she doesn't charge for the office visit, just the vaccination. She still does this even though Debbie is full grown, she only weighs 3 pounds.

She also did not require an overnight stay for her spay. I think your dog is better off at home with you especially if there is no overnight staff. Maybe some people don't know enough to keep an eye on them but I think most people that love their dogs enough to join a forum would be intelligent enough to know what to do.
