I understand your frustration. My cat used to jump on the table and at times on the stove. I got really scared due to never knowing if it was on or not!
The vet told me to spray them with vinegar solution. I have tried the apple cider vinegar I use for cooking and sure enough. When he jump on the chair he starts sniffing the table top and doesn't like the smell. Good luck
