Default Pet Insurance?

I have been mulling over the same thing in the last few months; I just wish I had acted quicker. Kia was attacked by a larger dog two weeks ago, and the vet costs came to $500.00-(over half my monthly income), to replace her eye and stitch it closed to give her a chance to heal. The eyeball is fine, but the muscles are stretched enough that the original vet says the eye must come out. The cost for that is approximately anoher $700.00. It is rather ironic, as I have been looking for a playmate for Kia, and for all that money, I could have purchased a puppy!
I am seriously considering insurance now-maybe it will help another time.
