I am new to post but have been reading here for a bit. I thought I would ask the opinions of fellow breeders (or YT people in general) on what your personal opinion is on what I should do:

I was contacted by a gentleman that was interested in purchasing a yorkie from me after she had a litter of pups (at least I am assuming she will be having pups next month). He wanted an adult rather than going through all the puppy stages. So, he came and looked at her and it was "love at first sight" (at least he came off that way). Well, we filled out a contract and we both signed it.

So, in the mean time, I sent him photos (as I send out weekly photos to all potential new owners who have placed deposits on dogs that are purchased from me). He emailed back and just oohed and aahhed over her. Well, the first mistake I made was taking a personal check from him. Well, I thought, no problem as he was a referral to me from another lady/friend that got a puppy from me in the past. Anyhow, I go to the bank and deposit the check. Almost a week later, I get it back in the mail for non-sufficient funds. Well, I called the guy and left a message. He called me back and when I told him over the phone he wrote a bad check his response was, "Yeah, I know, my other bills ate up my money first." I was a bit disturbed and perturbed at this point. So, he said he was going to send me another check. I told him NO!, you have to either send a money order or a bank check. I also told him that he was now responsible for a non-sufficient fund charge that I received as well because of what he had done. Then he said he was going to send weekly payments as he could not afford it all up front. He stated numerous times on the phone that he could not wait to come and get her later this year and by then she would be paid off and how much he wanted her. Well, I wanted to be sure he wanted her otherwise I had another lady that wanted her. BUT, Oh no, he was surely getting her.

Well, I hadn't heard from him in a long time and never saw any money coming. Out of the clear blue yesterday, he sends and email that says that he was wondering if I would be so kind as to terminate the contract that we have because he just could not wait that long and so he went and bought a 9 week old MALE puppy closer to his house. AND then he attached a photo of the puppy as well.

I guess I am stunned at this point, I have not responded to his email because I am in disbelief and shock that he did this. Please, I am asking for your opinions on what you feel if proper to do. (and yes, we have a legal binding contract that we both signed). Sorry for the lengthy book.
