I go to school 5 days a week, but my yorkies have their own room. My kids are grown and gone so my yorkies have taken their place (somewhat). I have a couple of kennels in the yorkie room where I keep trouble makers. Yorkies are like little pack dogs and there is alpha dog. My oldest female is the alpha. She will start trouble with one of my yorkies from an outside lineage and her two daughters (2 yr olds) will join in to torment. They start off playing and it turns into fighting, just like children. They behave when I'm standing there. Their room has been yorkie proofed. I use pads on the floor and I put pads in the kennels. They are loved on in the mornings before I leave ( I wake up at 4 a.m.) and when I get back home. The good thing is knowing their personalities and not leaving anything for them to chew on while you're not at home.
