Archie, I wanted to explain a little further because I certainly didn't mean to offend you. Your situation is different from that of alot of people reading this thread and the other current one about barking. You have put alot of effort into stopping this behavior and you are desperate.

IMHO, that's different from people jumping on the band wagon and saying "oh, I didn't know I needed to figure out what he hates most". My point is that I prefer to try other methods first. The fact that a dog stops what he's doing the minute he sees a coin can, a spray bottle, or a newspaper tells us how much he fears that object. Therefore, going that route wouldn't be my first choice.

The choice is down to rehoming or using something he fears? Absolutely, 100%, without reservation, I say you made the right decision! I support you all the way.

Did I explain myself better that time?
