Please make sure to bile acid test both male and female before breeding, to ensure they do not have liver shunt, mvd, or the ability to pass both on. If your post fasting number is lower than 20 (preferably even lower) you can feel safe you are probably not carrying the disease (animals can carry problems and show no symptoms, but pass them on to offspring)..if higher than 20, please spay or neuter your dogs, as they are not healthy dogs for breeding. Also, vets need to evaluate patellas, hearts, tracheas, etc. to determine a dog is healthy for breeding. Do not breed dogs with greater than grade 1 luxated patellas, and preferably NO luxations. Just some food for thought for both sire and dam owner before deciding to breed...once it's done, there's no going back.
