I really didnt even know about dewclaws till we got our great dane pup and some rude person at Petsmart commented to me on why she still has them?
But anyway, I was just wondering if its normal for them to be there? I dont care, There is NO WAY I would have them removed or anything! Just curious what the breed standard is. |
it is possible that they were removed and grew back. We docked the tail and removed dew claws from Silk's baby at four days old. Then about five days later we noticed they were trying togrow back so we did it again. Did not bother the puppy at all. AND I have also heard from several breeders that some are born without their back dew claws and this is a sign that they are well-bred.
