You will get charged for emailing them IF you get charged PER picture. if you have a plan that lets you have unlimited or a certain amount for a fixed price... then there is no extra charge.
Basic rule of thumb is.... if you do not have a plan... then you can TAKE pictures for free but not send them for free.
I have to say I am very lucky with my plan... I have a family plan where ANYBODY on the family plan can text and pix message all they want... and my total extra charge for it is $9.99 per month TOTAL for UNLIMITED. That's TOTAL for EVERYBODY not for each
