My poodle gets like that at times and it was worst when she was a pup. My vet said it was normal and that I should just wipe the eyes from the inside out. Be careful to use one wipe and then use another part of the eye wipe in order to prevent infection. Also, make sure that there aren't any hairs growing in the direction of the sclera. If so, just carefully comb them down.
