We used a large Rubbermaid box with a opening cut out on one side that was about 5 inches from the bottom. We lined the bottom with a towel, then a disposable pad while whelping, now we have just the towel and I bought about 10 baby blankets that are thin fleece at Walgreens, they were $ 1.00 each. I put 2-3 in at time so they can be "fluffed up" by the little digging housekeepers, lol
