All of mine have had them removed. It is one of the things I look for most in buying a puppy. I can't figure out why a breeder would not do it at the same time as getting the tails docked. It is inexpensive and is better for them to have it done. I prefer to have them removed but if they don't I just know that I have to be careful and keep them trimmed all the time. I have seen firsthand what dewclaws can do, it is not pretty. Just make sure you keep it trimmed and I would also file it so that it does not get caught on anything because their nails are always sharp after you cut them and can get caught on something very easily.
