Please don't touch it! I live in the country and there are deer everywhere. My husband told me when we first married that if you see one alone like that, the mother has "hidden" it. If you touch it, she will abandon it.
The first one I saw out like that I was sooooo tempted, but I remembered what hubby said and didn't. I went inside and watched out the window and saw the mother come back for it.
