these little buggers are so hard to train!! I'm with you and I know how you feel! I would go back to the crate and only take him out to potty, after he wakes up from a nap he should go outside right away, and when he potties, praise him up and down like crazy and then give him a treat, I would let him play for awhile then put him back into the crate, you may have to do this for a week or even longer.
