People always wonder why I gave up my good paying job as a legal asst. Well....just ask my fellow breeders! It was too hard on me and my babies not being here all day with them because they are little stinkers and into everything. I had a little puppy several years ago who chewed up anything and everything he could fit into his mouth. He shredded and ATE paper, piddle pads, you name it. I took him to work with me a few times and I remember my sweet boss telling me that he KNEW my time with him was close to ending because he knew I couldn't leave my babies and concentrate at work. I took 2 hour lunches more than once to drive home and do a puppy check. He was right! hee hee.
It is always sad when they leave. I have a hard time with it to this day. But anyone who breeds knows that we cannot possibly keep every puppy that we have, so the time is gonna come to send them to their new families. Tough yes. But the work you have put in can be exhausting and it can be a bit of a relief at times to see them start their new lives. It doens't mean we don't love them to pieces!!! When I keep babies out of my litters at times, my work NEVER ends, LOL I am a full time groomer now who doesn't get paid for it! LOL LOL |
Nope, you can't keep them all. I breed for myself first, looking for that next Champion, but you can't keep them all. Yes, the work is exhausting, especially in the first few weeks of their little lives, no sleep, making sure mamma is eating properly and babies are getting enough and not being pushed off. But, is a labor of love.
