2.6 means 2 pounds and 6/10 of a pound or 2 pounds 9.6 ounces, but many say 2.6 when they mean 2 pounds, 6 ounces. If the digital scales shows 2.6 it means the first example, but if a person says 2.6 - ask what they mean.
