My vet says that Yorkies are the worst for the baby teeth staying in. I know that is true for my girls... I have had 3 yorkies now and all three have had to have their baby teeth out. He says it's not good to wait too long if the permanant teeth are coming in or they will be crooked. Luckily, I have a great vet that I have had for over 16 years. He specializes in tinies. He only gives them enough to keep them out for a very short time and he works fast.
I have known two people now that have wanted to save a little $$ and gone to a vet that have given them too much anthesia (sp). Both those dogs ended up acting strangly like they were drugged...never came out of it, brain damaged and died within months.
Just make sure your vet is good with tiny dogs or find one that is... I don't mean to sound paranoyd but I am fearful of a vet that handles ALL sizes.
