I's sure it is nothing that you did or it was anything that could be pervented. Things like this happen in the animal kingdom all the time. Most often the mother will reabsorbe or spontaniously abort (miscarriage) this type of embryo. How ever some times deformed fetuses make it to birth then die shortly after. This same sort of thing happens in cattle and they just call it water belly. No one knows for sure why it happens, but it just does.
