 Legg Perthes
My baby stopped playing and running. We just thought she was lazy since she was a little heavier than our other Yorkie. Then she started kind of hopping as she ran once in awhile; then completely pulled her left hind leg up and would not put any weight on it. She had Legg Perthes and had surgery in July. My vet said the surgery should completely take care of it and that small dogs do better since there is not a lot of weight put on the leg during the healing process. She still does not use her leg all the time but I have read it can take up to a year for it to completely heal. If we had gotten her to the vet sooner, she might have healed faster. Her leg had completely popped out of the socket. She never gave any indication of being in pain until she would not use the leg.
