My boyfriend and I just recently found an apartment after months of searching. We have two yorkies and no one wanted to rent to us either. Sometimes a place would say "pets negotiable" but we found that that basically meant that if there was a choice between us "with 2 dogs" and another applicant with out, then the place always went to the other people.

The only advice that I can give is even if a place says they don't allow pets, ask anyway. Yorkies are so small that they may make an exception. Also, the realtor that we worked with suggested that we create "pet resumes" to show the renter. Make sure to attach a picture to show how small your yorkie really is. Also, you might say that you are willing to leave a higher deposit for your dog.

The place we found allows us to have our dogs, but only with a $1,000 deposit and when we leave we have to get the carpets professionally cleaned and also get the place fumigated (sp?) for fleas (even though our dogs don't have them). The deposit was difficult for us to scrape up, but we were willing to do anything.

Whatever you do, don't give up. We're wishing you good luck!
