Angel got her first rabies shot on Mon. at almost 8 months old. She seems to be acting her normal self. When should she get her next one? I believe in a reduced vaccination schedule due to my breeder informing me of side effects and doing research. My breeders believe the rabies shot is optional (even though it's required by law where I live) because of the side effects and them being housedogs. When I called my vet's office to schedule the appointment, the receptionist said the shot is done every 2 years. When I spoke to the vet, she said the first shot is only good for 1 year and then it can be done every 2 years after the 2nd one. She said it isn't effective if I wait 2 years for the 2nd one and a titer test will show this result. Can you tell me why it isn't effective? When have you gotten your Yorkies' 2nd rabies shot?
