I used to volunteer at a "school" that was similar to an orphanage. These were children who were removed from their homes for one reason or another. I took the child out places for lunch, picnics, zoo, etc. Pretty much like a "big sister". I also volunteered for the Older Residence program where I drove sr. citizens to doctors, shopping, any place they needed to go. I also did grocery shopping and banking and all tasks for the ones that could not get out to do things for themselves.

Currently I volunteer for a crisis nursery 2 days a week. I basically "play" with toddlers and babies. These are children who are at "risk" if they remain in the family home and are in temporary shelter. I am also going to start volunteering for a children's pediatric hospital this week and I am SO EXCITED to start.

I would love to volunteer helping animals, but I don't know if I can squeeze anything more into my schedlue right now. Volunteering is great. Someone out there needs you! If you don't already, please consider volunteering!
