 business traveling, anyone else do this?

my husband works for a contruction company, he has taken them from 1 states to 8 states. but he is never home. i just got a great state job. something that i am porud of. my husband is never home, but this morning he calls and says that his company will fly all of us to long beach ca, the boss said they will pay me the salary i was making with the state and give my husband a raise based on the living exspenses in CA. the will lease us a home and pay all the utilites...next we will go to colorado..now im very excited but my parents would be heartbroken over us and the GRANDBABY!!!! also my mom made a good point that i hate to bring to my husbands attention, no he makes really good money, top of his field, but they had promised him a raise a ways back and he hasnt gotten yet. so my mom is scared we would get out there and something would happened and we would be stuck.
do company's sign contracts with you when they send you somewhere? i would think so...
any informaton out there on this? anyone else travel like that for a company??
