My 2 only do it when they are alone or bored. It makes a mess doesn't it. Don't wait until she can schread the whole thing . When I am at home, I leave a disposable in the family room for the girls. When I must leave, they have use of the washable ones in their playpens. They are well worth the investment. IF you decide not to use the washable ones, buy people blue pads from the adult diaper section. They are thicker, held tighter in the frame and you just tuck the excess under the frame. Whether you use disposables or washable, people ones are less then half the price of pet product ones.
