I don't know I went to try and pluck Diesel's ears once and he screamed so I stopped and didn't do it again. We all have hair in our ears and our noses to help protect us. I figure that is applies to animals too. I just try to keep his ears clean and just trim the hairs. When I got him groomed a few weeks ago she didn't pluck his ears either only trimmed them.
