Probably Not Mange Having experience with both Sarcoptic and Demodectic Mange, I would like to halp set your mind at rest; both require a fair bit of time to cause problems, and both have skin lesions, usually beginning on ears, elbows, etc that make it easier to diagnose. A sudden-onset itching is usually a sign of allergic reaction to something in the air, feed, products touching the body or a sting/bite of some type. Changing the feed might help, if a food allergy, but it is better to withdraw all commercial feeds and feed only rice with chicken for a few days, to exclude any possiblity of multiple feed allergens.
Anti-histamines like Benadryl are useful to stop the itching, so one can research the problem. |
