Sorry! I have girls but, I think this is normal for a puppy...Although my daughters HUGHE golden retriever(male) still squats when he pee's..she had him fixed as soon as he was old enough and he never got out of the habit..It's kinda funny,,,I'm waiting for him to pee in his eye someday! lol
