Exclamation Girly Surgery

First of all Lulabelle is 15 wks and cute as ever. She is just so much fun and I love her.
I have only had one girl dog before and that was when I was in High School. She was a rescue and had been spayed before we got her. I have never experienced a dog in heat before and quite honestly I am terrified that something may go wrong due to inexperience. That one day I will come home from the grocery store or somewhere and my baby could be bleeding or something. I am a first time yorkie mommy ( or doggy mommy for that matter) and I have some questions.
How old is a dog typically when she has her first heat?
How old should she be on average in order to have that type of surgery? (spaying)
(I hate to ask this ) Generally how much does the procedure cost?
Are there any doggy insurance policies that cover this sort of procedure?
And if so, how can I find our more about them.
I would love any feed back on this subject.
I just want to be informed on the issue before I ask her vet so that way I can
be objective and understand what her vet will be telling me.
I want to be the best mommy possible for my baby.
