I think your "crate" idea right now sounds like the best. As you said, a larger one with room.

Just take her out when you have time to bond and let her exersize then place her back in.

Eventually and hopefully she will grow out of this behavior.

I know how frustrated you must be and want to have a great relationship with your pup.
