It's all preference. Some people put their dog in their crate all night, but I do not put her in her crate most nights. She's fine being in there all night, but I got attached to her sleeping by me
The only time I used the crate is when I travel, when I leave her at the vet, etc. I wanted her to have a place where she feels safe and she likes to go to when she doesn't want to be bothered.
