Mine dogs (a Bichon and Yorkie) will bark in the middle of the night occasionally. One barks and then, of course, the other has to join in.
I'm am sure they hear something outside or somewhere (that I don't hear). I usually just get up and distract them. They settle down and then we all go back to sleep.
