Shopstump --- If your boyfriend is going to be a fireman - he'll learn the rules, and I'm sure he'll act appropriately. I know a lot of firefighters who are animal lovers will always make an extra effort - but they certainly learn not to put their own lives or other lives in jeopardy doing this.
Most of the time, both pets and people can be gotten out of fire situations. And, and most of the time, they are out - before the firemen even get there. The other times - the firemen do whatever they can and are trained to do.
We certainly never want to lose a fireman or any other life because someone is trying to save a pet....
