I am sure a lot of people will tell Diesel's Mommy what a Roach Back is, but I just think that it's great to list what kind of bad breeders (and good, too!) are out there. Same goes for Vets, too! I never realized how much you need to know to breed Yorkies. Don't try it unless you are willing to learn. My friend and I are building a breeding business, and we started 6 yrs. ago and we still consider ourselves beginners. You absolutely do need at least one handler, a mentor and a lot of energy.
When you "stack" your puppy, take a look a his back from the neck to the tail. You want it to be straight as a pin. If it curves upward in a place, that is a "Roached Back". It is thought to be heriditary, and not desireable. It's one of the first thing the judge will notice at a show. You can tell sometimes, by watching your Yorkie walk, but stacking is the easiest way.
