I had the same problem. Piccolo hated brushing. Then I would give him one small treat when I picked up the brush and put the rest of them on my chair. After a few strokes I'd give him one treat. Now I just put treats for him to see and I brush, comb, put a bow and THEN give him a treat. He's still not crazy about grooming but sits quietly and waits for his treat.
