I don't know if this will confuse your little one or not but I found some grass smelling pee pads. Apparently they are supposed to help with outdoor training. You might want to put one upstairs in the playroom and then move the pad closer to the door outside. It might take awhile but it might help your yorkie focus on what grass smells like and make the association between the two.
