My favorite used to be Christmas but now it's Thanksgiving. Christmas was the time of year we spent with family (grandparents, uncles, cousins) because they all went "home" for the holidays. That was the one time a year my parents were sure to see their first cousins, many of who lived in other states. But now that my brothers and sisters and I have our own families and we live in different places, Thanksgiving is the one holiday a year that we are all together (my mom, my sisters, brothers, hubby, kids, nieces, nephews). We get the food (which I mostly cook cause we meet at my house), the compaionship, etc. And, because we aren't getting back together at Christmas, we exchange gifts at that time too (so it's kinda both holidays in one!).
