I dont even know when my dog has to go. I just take him outside frequently (sp) an tell him "go potty". I also have off white carpet in my whole house so alot of times i dont even see his spots but i sure do smell it once i get home from work! Its ok tho the carpet cleaner guys are coming to the house to do there majic an clean all of it!

Crate training would eliminate those messes when you get home... assuming he's old enough to hold it. Basically before you take him out you take his paw and ring your bell, act all excited like he did it and say "OUTSIDE?! OK LETS GO OUTSIDE!" and then go out like normal. Soon he'll figure out ringing the bell is the most effective way to tell you he needs to go out!
